HES LiDAR Project 2017: Data acquired from Cyient Europe Ltd
This LiDAR data was captured by Cyient Europe Ltd for Historic Environment Scotland (HES) as part of the Rae Project, the 3D Digital Documentation of HES’ Properties in Care and for other HES projects. The LiDAR data was captured in 2017 of the sites and their immediate landscape and processed in *.ascii format to 0.25m resolution for the following sites:
• Inveraray* (4.97km area);
• Loch Leven Castle and St Serfs Priory Islands;
• Bonawe Ironworks and wider area;
• Dunstaffinage Castle and Chapel;
• Inverlochy Castle;
• Kilchurn Castle;
• Craigmillar Castle and Grounds; and
• Hermitage Castle and Chapel
Data was supplied as Raw data in *.laz format and 0.25m *.ascii and *.xyz format as DTM (Terrain) and DSM (Surface) data and distributed here as LAZ and GeoTiff.
Each site or data area is included in a GIS shapefile depicting the location of the data and key attribute information associated with the data
Tiles contain only data that was relevant to HES Projects at the time of procurement

The LiDAR dataset was originally acquired by Cyient Europe Limited on behalf of Historic Environment Scotland in 2017. The data was collected and processed using OSGM15 geoid model, OSTN15 horizontal transformation and the Newlyn datum
The data was transferred to the Scottish Remote Sensing Portal in 2021 in the following formats (the same formats as originally received by HES):
• Raw *.laz format
• 25 points per metre, 0.25m point density *.ascii and *.xyz grid format Digital Terrain Model (DTM)
• 25 points per metre, 0.25m point density *.ascii and *.xyz grid format Surface Model (DSM).
