Shellfish Water Protected Areas came into force on 22/12/13 comprising 85 areas defined by The Water Environment (Shellfish Water Protected Areas - Designation) (Scotland) Order 2013 ( http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2013/324/pdfs/ssi_20130324_en.pdf). Loch Ryan was designated separately and came into force on 4/10/16 through The Water Environment (Shellfish Water Protected Areas: Designation) (Scotland) Order 2016 ( http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2016/251/pdfs/ssi_20160251_en.pdf).
