Area Management - Standing approvals for use of chemical dispersants in response to oil spills
Areas where standing approvals permit the application of a limited quantity of chemical dispersants, without the permission of Marine Scotland, to respond to an oil spill. Two areas exist at the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal (Shetland) and Hound Point (Firth of Forth). Data is intended for illustrative purposes and should be used at a maximum scale of 1:10,000.

Data was digitised by Marine Scotland based on oil spill contingency plans. Sullom Voe approvals were digitised from maps in Sullom Voe Harbour Oil Spill Plan, using OS MasterMap to identify MLWS, natural features, and locations of spur booms at Tivaka Taing and Roe Clett. Hound Point approval was digitised from coordinates (WGS84 datum, dd mm.mm format, with precision around 20m) in the Hound Point Oil Spill Plan with landward features compared against OS MasterMap. All data was captured on WGS84 datum using EPSG:1314 transformation to compare against Ordnance Survey data. Data was confirmed by British Petroleum (BP). Prior to publishing, the coastline was erased using OS Open Data.
