- Statement

Canmore provides the public with a searchable website for information held by Historic Environment Scotland (HES). HES is the successor body to RCAHMS and the National Monuments Record of Scotland. Information published through the Canmore Database has been compiled from multiple sources over many years and was gathered in a card index until the mid 1980s when these records were first computerised. The database has continued to evolve since that date.
