EUNIS Land Cover Scotland
This is a Scotland raster based (10m) landcover made up of best available national data classified according to the EUNIS (EUropean Nature Information System).
The main purpose of the landcover is to provide well-known, nationally consistent information for SNH’s national habitat network models. Secondary purposes include input for other analysis projects as well as map backdrops.

The landcover is an amalgamation of data collected from several data sources and converted into the EUNIS habitat classification system ( http://eunis.eea.europa.eu/index.jsp). The ingoing data comes from the following datasets (listed in ranking order):
1. OSMM built features and water features (Ordnance Survey)
2. Native Woodland Survey Scotland (Forestry Commission Scotland)
3. Saltmarsh Survey Scotland (SNH)
4. Shingle Survey Scotland (SNH)
5. National forest Inventory (Forestry Commission Scotland)
6. Greenspace Scotland (Ordnance Survey)
7. Sand Dune Vegetation Survey Scotland (SNH)
8. Land Cover Scotland 1988 (James Hutton Institute)
9. Land Cover Map 2007 (Centre for Ecology & Hydrology)
Any gaps in the landcover was filled by using:
10. OSMM intertidal
11. Land Cover Map 2000 (Centre for Ecology & Hydrology)
12. OSMM and aerial photography interpretation
13. Aerial photography interpretation
